Would you want to go to the toilet in the middle of the room with mum, dad, brother, sister, nanny, granddad, the dog and the goldfish all staring at you with eager, watchful eyes? ….No, didn’t think so!

 So it’s no wonder your little one may be a tad self-conscious when trying to relieve themselves on the potty.

With the new school term approaching, and the weather looking distinctly non-summery, the team at Alexandalexa.com have been working to find you the perfect activities to keep the little ones entertained.

This week we have found this fantastic pencil topper craft on Kaboose.com which will keep the kiddies entertained whilst also giving them reason to look forward to the start of school. Let your little ones get their creativity flowing by creating different zoo animals, a selection of flowers or any other shape their heart desires!

What you will need-

 -sheets of coloured foam

-scissors

- glue

-pen or pencils

-any decorative extras (we recommend sets of wiggle eyes and pom-poms).

How to make them-

-Cut 2 identical shapes in the foam, glue around the outside of 1 of them, leaving a gap for the pencil

-Glue the 2 shapes together and leave to dry.

-Decorate the foam to create animals, objects or just pretty shapes. Using glitter, sequins, pom-poms, other pieces of foam or wiggle eyes, glue them onto the foam shape.

-Once the glue has completely dried, push the foam figures onto any pens or pencils.

-Finally take your newly decorated stationary to school and make all the other kids at school green with envy!

A particular favourite of ours here at Alex and Alexa, is the pull along Elmer toy. Some of you may already be familiar with Elmer the Elephant; Most of us at A&A distinctly remember being read this book in primary school and absolutely loving it!

The story is by David McKee and is about an elephant called Elmer who is very different from his fellow elephants… He is patchwork! The story follows Elmer and his worries about his colour and standing out from the crowd. The story is sweet and heart-warming, and teaches children that it is ok to be different. Over 20 book titles have been created since its first publication in 1989, and it has sold nearly 5 million copies in 40 languages around the world. The character has also been turned into a children’s TV series.

 Made from multi-coloured lacquered wood with big coloured wheels and a black string to pull him along, Elmer the Elephant is super cute and is sure to accompany your little one wherever they may go!

The Name: The brand name ‘Geox’ was created from a mixture between the Greek word “geo” which means “earth” and “x”, a letter-element symbolizing technology.

History: During a wine conference in Reno, Nevada, company founder Mario Moretti Polegato, who was at the conference to promote his family’s wine business, noticed that his feet were getting incredibly hot in his sauna like leather shoes. To allow his feet to breath, Polegato cut holes in the soles of his shoes with a Swiss Army knife. To most, this act may have seemed like an act of insanity, but for Polegato, it was an act of genious.

Upon his arrival back home in Italy, Polegato developed the idea with the help of a small leather-goods business his family owned.
